We are Stirling University Netball Club, otherwise known as SUNC!
We are one of the largest clubs in our Sports Union with over 100 members year after year! We welcome players of all abilities as our club has a combination of social and BUCS squads. There are 5 teams that represent the university in BUCS leagues, playing matches on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There is also a social team that has been created from our social training sessions, that play games in a local social league on weekends too! No matter if you’ve been playing netball for years or have never stepped foot on court before, there is a space in the club for everyone! It can be a daunting and stressful time at university, whether you are a first year or final year student, but joining our club will allow you to create friendships that you can depend on through the tough times.
For those who are interested in competitive play, the club will be hosting a trials week beginning the 16th September. A sign-up form will be available closer to the time for those wanting to compete in a BUCS league. The trials are held during the club’s training slots (see below) however, you will be contacted to inform you of a date and time to attend the trials. If you have any questions on trials, please do not hesitate to contact us (see below also).
If you are looking for more chill vibes and to build new friendships that will last a lifetime our non-competitive social team is the place for you. The social members of our club have a training slot once a week on a Monday evening, where fun games, tournaments and new abilities are acquired on a non-compulsory basis. The whole squad is designed around you being able to try a new sport, learn new skills and develop your netball knowledge in a fun, friendship oriented setting. Training is lead by current members within the club so it really is one whole club family when you attend one of the sessions.
Away from training, the club of course hosts regular social events which are a great way to strengthen those friendships made within the netball sessions and to meet new people at Stirling University. The club is regularly involved with other events, whether that be charity work, collaborating with other sports teams or supporting the local community.
The club has opportunities to allow you to develop your umpiring and coaching skills with regular courses being available to us, as well as allowing you to take on leadership roles within the club as a team captain, a team welfare officer or running to be part of our fabulous committee for the 25/26 season.
Whatever your experience with netball, you're guaranteed to get the most out of your University experience and make friends for life here at SUNC!
