Union awarded Green Impact Excellent Award!

We are thrilled to announce that your Students' Union has received the Excellent Award for our Green Impact Students' Union.

We are thrilled to announce that your Students' Union has received the Excellent Award for our Green Impact Students' Union (GISU) audit! This is a United Nations recognised programme that showcases how our SU and our students have actively lead in sustainability action in 2023-24! This Award is thanks to efforts across the Union but mostly important from you, our students, in placing such importance on our future sustainability.

Some of our Sustainability highlights during the year include:

- Our Green and Blue Space collected 3 metric tonnes of items and ran 12 sustainability themed workshops and events which address at least 1 Sustainable Development Goal!

- We ran 6 Eco Living Workshops with around 80 people reached altogether.

- We hosted Climate Café Listening Circles for Mental Health Awareness Week, Wellbeing Week and Stress Awareness Week and receiving funds from the Vice Chancellors Fund to continue running these in the future.

- We ran a total of 44 weekly Community Garden Sessions and had around 100 Student and Community e throughout the academic year!

- We ran daily events in Green Week including a Bioblitz and participated in the Bird Garden Bird Watch with help from the Earth and Environment Society.

- We received funding from Stirling Council to revive the Community Food Initiative and established a partnership with Transition Stirling to get surplus food redistributed to our Community Fridge and Pantry. The Community Food Initiative has positively impacted hundreds of students.

- We have delivered a Sustainability Training for our Academic Representatives.

- We introduced a new policies to our Students Union such as Fossil Free Careers, Sustainability Policy Updates and Students' Union Domestic Flight Policy.

- We worked with University and the Global Justice Stirling Society (GJS) to secure an Ethical Careers Policy and are working with the University and GJS towards a more robust Socially Responsible Investment Policy.
