Throughout March, we will be celebrating Women's History Month. A key part of our programme is the annual Inspirational Women Awards.

Join us as we encourage nominations across a range of categories for inspirational women at the University of Stirling as we celebrate students and staff.

Nominations are now open and remain open until the 13th March at 10am so make your voice heard and get nominating!

There is no limit on the number of nominations you can make and they can be made for both staff and students at the University.

2025 Inspirational Women Award Categories 

  • Champion in STEM: This award acknowledges university students or staff members who have demonstrated outstanding achievements and contributions in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). They serve as inspiring role models, breaking barriers and promoting diversity in these traditionally male-dominated fields. 

  • Champion in Leadership: This award celebrates university students or staff members who exhibit exceptional leadership qualities within the academic community or beyond. They inspire others through their vision, integrity, and commitment to fostering positive change and inclusivity. 

  • Champion in Sport: This award honours university students or staff members who excel in sports and athletics, serving as inspiring figures and ambassadors for women's participation in sports. They demonstrate skill, dedication, and sportsmanship, inspiring others to pursue their athletic passions. 

  • Equality Champion: This award recognizes university students or staff members who actively promote equality, diversity, and inclusion within the campus and local community. Through their advocacy, initiatives, and leadership, they foster an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered. 

  • Champion Staff Member: This award acknowledges the contributions of staff members at the university who go above and beyond to support and empower students. They demonstrate dedication, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to student welfare and success. 

  • Champion in the Community: This award celebrates university students or staff members who make significant contributions to their local communities through volunteering, activism, or community engagement initiatives. They embody the spirit of service and social responsibility, inspiring others to create positive change. 

  • LGBTQ+ Rights Champion*: This award honours university students or staff members who are passionate advocates for LGBTQ+ rights and visibility. They work tirelessly to create inclusive spaces, challenge discrimination, and promote acceptance and equality for all members of the LGBTQ+ community. 

  • Disabled and Accessibility Rights Champion*: This award recognizes university students or staff members who are dedicated to advancing the rights and accessibility of individuals with disabilities within the campus community. Through their advocacy and efforts, they strive to create a more inclusive and accommodating environment for all. 

  • BAME/BIPOC Rights Champion*: This award celebrates university students or staff members who are committed to advocating for the rights and representation of Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME)/ Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) communities. They work to address systemic inequalities, promote cultural awareness, and foster a more inclusive and equitable campus environment. 

  • Widening Access in Education: This award acknowledges university students or staff members who are passionate about increasing access to education for underrepresented and disadvantaged groups. They advocate for inclusive policies, provide support and mentorship, and empower students from diverse backgrounds to pursue their academic aspirations. 

  • Champion in Sustainability: This award acknowledges university students or staff members who exhibit a commitment to sustainability within the academic community or beyond. They are leaders in sustainable practices, empowering future generations to create a greener, more sustainable world.

*Nominees must self-identify as LGBTQ+, Disabled, or BAME/BIPOC.
