My name is David Stuart, I'm a first year journalism and philosophy student, I'm from Inverness and I think I'd make a good entertainments officer. Aside from being quite entertaining at times, I have some pretty good views on how we can make the Stirling experience even more fun-filled.
For one, I think it'd be nice to give student bands a larger oppertunity to be seen and heard on campus and in the union. I'd also like to make it easier for students to randomly suggest ideas for whatever they'd like to see from the union, with regards to drinks promos, theme nights, whatever really.
I also think its important that we make it a priority to let everyone know exactly whats going on in the union, so I'd quite like the idea of a weekly email. newsletter or even a little page on WebCT detailing whats happening that week.
Of course, everyone's heard talk of the possible closure of Glow. I think its vital that we try and clean up the current image (which is one of a place where no one goes) for the next batch of freshers. I hope to lobby residential services for more advertising space in halls and for permission to advertise whats going on in Glow in student kitchens, so that no one has an excuse to miss out.Hopefully, with a bit of time and a lot more custom. We could work to lower drinks prices or even just put more promotions in place, so that you can stretch your drinking fund that bit further.
